AWN Consulting is a multidisciplinary consultancy offering specialist design advice in respect of a wide range of engineering and environmental disciplines. It is an Irish owned company with its Head Office in Dublin and a Regional Office in Cork. The company was formed in 2000 by its four principals, who have overseen the growth of the company to its current staffing level of almost 30; they continue to direct its activities with a firm emphasis on technical excellence and quality of services.
Key Personnel
AWN's Managing Director is Terry Donnelly, who holds a BSc in Environmental Science and has over 25 years experience at senior management level in the environmental and acoustic consultancy sectors. As well as managing the executive and financial operations role within the company, Terry also provides specialist consultancy advice in the area of environmental noise impact assessment.
Chris Dilworth has responsibility for the Acoustics team in AWN Consulting. He is a Chartered Engineer and holds a BEng in Electroacoustics from the Department of Applied Acoustics at the University of Salford. He is a corporate member of Engineers Ireland and the Institute of Acoustics with over twenty years' experience in the field of acoustics; he has been a consultant since 1989. As well as being responsible for acoustic design of a wide variety of buildings, he has been a contributor to official design guidance published by bodies such as the National Roads Authority, British Aviation Authority and UK National Health Service.
Dr. Edward Porter is responsible for the Air Quality & Climate team in AWN. He holds a BSc(Hons) from the University of Sussex (Department of Chemistry), has completed a PhD in Environmental Chemistry (Air Quality) in UCD and is a Full Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (C Chem MRSC). He specialises in the fields of air quality, EIA and air dispersion modelling.
Dr Fergal Callaghan is Director with responsibility for Waste Management, Water Quality, Soil, Risk Assessment, Environmental Management and Impact Assessment with AWN Consulting. He has a BSc in Industrial Biochemistry and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (Waste and Wastewater Treatment). He is a Full Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), an Associate Member of The Institution of Chemical Engineers (AMIChemE), a Member of the Environmental Protection Subject Group, IChemE, Graduate Member of The Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management, a Member of the IChemE Water Group, a Member of the International Water Association (IWA) and a Member of the European Water Association. He has 17 years engineering and consultancy experience in the Irish, UK and European environmental industry.
Damian Kelly is an Associate Director and Principal Acoustic Consultant with AWN. He holds a BSc from DCU and an MSc from QUB. He has been an acoustic consultant since 1999 and is a member of the Institute of Acoustics. He has extensive knowledge in the field of noise modelling and prediction, having developed many of the largest and most complex examples of proprietary noise models prepared in Ireland to date.
