Risk Management

Management of safety, health and environmental risk is an essential aspect of handling hazardous materials and managing hazardous processes and activities. An important element of this is the control of accident hazards with the potential for physical and environmental consequences. AWN Consulting offers a range of consultancy services to companies in relation to the management of risk on site.

AWN Consulting use the PHAST suite of fire, explosion and toxic gas release models from DNV to undertake consequence modelling and to provide data for Quantitative Risk Assessment of both IR (Individual Risk) and SR (Societal Risk) for CIA Occupied Buildings assessments, ALARP demonstration, Internal and External Emergency Plans and for Land Use Planning. We provide our services to a range of blue chip clients and have also acted as expert advisers to Local Authorities and An Bord Pleanála with regard to risk assessment, air dispersion modelling and consequence modelling.

Our services include modelling the consequences and risks associated with major accident scenarios, modelling of licenced air emissions using state of the science air dispersion models (AERMOD, CALPUFF), assisting operators with Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) assessments, Hazard Identification (HAZID), carrying out site inspections and preparing COMAH compliance documentation including Major Accident Prevention Policies (MAPP) and Safety Reports. We also carry out Qualitative and Quantitative risk assessments of the impacts of contaminated land on humans and environment.
