Environmental Impact Assessment

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process for anticipating the effects on the environment caused by a proposed development or project at a particular site. Where effects are unacceptable, design or other measures can be taken to avoid or reduce these to acceptable levels.

The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a document produced in the course of this process. The EIS will comply with the EIA requirements which derive from EC Directive 85/337/EEC (as amended by Directive 97/11/EC) on the assessment of the effect of certain public and private projects on the environment. EIA requirements are integrated in Ireland into the land-use planning consent system as well as several other infrastructural development consent systems.

AWN specialise in the preparation of EIS for integrated pharmaceutical and waste processing facilities. We have led multidisciplinary EIS teams to deliver EIS for more than 1 billion worth of pharmaceutical investment in Ireland over the last 8 years.

We have a structured EIS team in place who have worked together for many years and conduct much of the EIS in house, with traffic, archaeology, landscape, planning and socio economic impacts being sub-contracted to our EIS team members who have worked with us for the last 8 years.
