Introduction

The Lime Tree Theatre on the campus of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick is a state of the art 510 seat theatre. The venue will be host to a wide range of performances, including theatre, music, comedy, traditional arts, schools' performances and conferences.

Scope of Work

Working with the architects, contractors and other design team members, AWN Consulting provided design advice in respect of room acoustics and environmental noise control. The design brief was to provide a venue that could accommodate a variety of performances including spoken word and music. A detailed 3D model of the auditorium was developed in order to assess the acoustic environment within the space. The proprietary software Odeon was used for the assessment.

Completion

On completion of the project AWN conducted an extensive series of commissioning surveys to demonstrate that the various design goals have been achieved. The Lime Tree Theatre will officially open on October 30th 2012 with the Abbey Theatre production of the Plough and the Stars. This will be the first Abbey Theatre production in Limerick for over 20 years.
