Dr. Fergal Callaghan of AWN Consulting has been invited to give the opening address at the upcoming Engineers Ireland CPD Seminar in June. The Seminar is titled 'Managing Industrial Risk and the new Seveso III Directive'.

The aim of the seminar is to inform delegates of the latest developments in terms of regulations and legislation on both a national and European level governing sites with potentially dangerous substances. The seminar hopes to inform delegates of the potential cost and Intellectual Property related impacts on their businesses and to show how they need to prepare for the implementation of the Seveso III Directive, as well as providing examples of best-practice in managing industrial risk and site safety.

Dr. Callaghan will provide an overview of the Seveso/COMAH (Control of Major Accidents & Hazards) Directive and its impact on industry in Ireland. The impact of the new Seveso III Directive will be explained in practical terms. Case studies will be presented to discuss its impact on land use planning, local fire services and the duties of engineers.
