AWN was appointed by GSK to develop a site wide noise model of the existing operation at Currabinny. Co. Cork. This involved extensive site noise surveys and noise monitoring at surrounding locations in order to gain the relevant datasets and to calibrate the noise model. 

This model allowed the assessment of existing impacts and proposed developments on site including new buildings and a proposed wind turbine. 

A detailed Phase 1 assessment was undertaken in line with the EPA NG3 document. During a planned site shut down a noise monitoring campaign was undertaken to identify appropriate noise limits based on background noise levels. 

Noise model iterations were developed to include the proposed turbine and a number of different turbine technologies were assessed in order to assist in the selection of the final technologies. Reports are currently being prepared to accompany the application to the EPA for the turbine development. Work on this project is on-going.
