AWN Staff on the IGI Environmental Risk Register

AWN has recently had four of its hydrogeologists and environmental scientists formally entered on the Institute of Geologists of Ireland (IGI) register of Qualified Persons (in respect of Environmental Risk Assessment of Unregistered Waste Disposal Sites). This is the first register prepared by a professional body to meet the EPA requirements for a competent person to undertake risk-based hydrogeological assessments of historical landfill and contaminated land sites.

The EPA requires this high level of expertise in order to regulate historic landfills across the country. The IGI has prepared a register of "Qualified Persons" who "have demonstrable experience and expertise to carry out risk-based hydrogeological assessments of historical landfill and contaminated lands sites".
