South Eastern Railways (SER) operates 400 trains in the UK, providing over 170 million individual journeys each year. The company proactively manages its environmental impacts and energy use and has employed AWN in conjunction with GEF Environmental to further develop its energy and environmental management systems, including supporting the implementation of ISO50001. AWN will review energy management procedures and provide specialist support and recommendations. This builds on experience developed by AWN staff, who previously prepared the Energy Efficiency and Carbon Reduction Strategy for Network Rail. Network Rail manages the UK's rail infrastructure.
