Dublin Landings is a flagship mixed-use development in the Dublin Docklands Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) along the North Wall Quay. The development forms part of an overall new city block which also includes the Central Bank of Ireland. Dublin Landings comprises over 1 million square feet of offices, apartments and shops in a busy urban environment bounded on one side by the River Liffey and on the other by the LUAS red line. Construction work on the first phase of the project started in December 2015.

The scale of the project and the premium nature of space within the development meant that the management of waste materials generated once the buildings become operational was a key consideration. Accurately sized waste storage areas capable of containing daily waste quantities expected to be generated in the development needed to be determined. Waste modelling was undertaken by AWN Consulting and expert advice in waste design provided to RKD Architects to ensure appropriately sized and designed waste storage areas were incorporated into the overall building design.

The city block is surrounded on all four sides by busy transport routes so it was also essential to create a strategy where commercial and residential waste collections would have minimal impact on traffic, neighbours, tenants, residents and the environment. AWN Consulting prepared an Operational Waste Management Strategy for the planning phase of the project. Planning permission was granted for the first phase of the development in November 2015. AWN also provided a waste strategy to allow the building managers to transfer and arrange collection of waste efficiently and in compliance with current legislation.
