Surface Water Management Plans are used during the construction phase and operational phase of engineering projects. The Plan includes mitigation measures against any potentially water polluting activities and emergency response procedures in the event of water pollution. AWN has issued and contributed to numerous surface water management plans for a range of clients.

The Plan includes legislative requirements, schedule of measures, monitoring, site checklist, training and key contacts. Surface Water Management Plans are formulated in consideration of the following:

  • Local Authority Planning Conditions in relation to surface water
  • Statutory consultee responses (e.g. Inland Fisheries of Ireland, National Parks and Wildlife Services, Department of the Environment)
  • Planning Application Mitigation Measures in relation to the Water section of the Environmental Reports/EISs.
  • Use of standard best international practice i.e. CIRIA Guidance
